Mezzo-soprano Sylvie Bedouelle studied with Janice Chapman on the Guildhall School Opera Course, where she was awarded the Patrick Libby Prize for acting and the Guildhall Fellowship for two consecutive years. She trained afterwards on the International Opera Academy in Ghent, and on the Baroque Opera Programme of the Paris Conservatoire (CRR).
Recent roles include Messagiera in Monteverdi’s Orfeo with Cappella Mediterranea in Antwerp and at Versailles Royal Opera; Aminta in Orfeo by Peri, Venere in Orfeo by Rossi, Mopsa in Le Jugement de Midas by Grétry and Flore in Psyché by Lully with Paris CRR and Académie Royale de Liège; Eurimedes in Telemann’s Orpheus, Lisinga in Gluck’s Le Cinesi, Hans in Der Gestiefelter Kater by Cesar Cui with the IOA; Annina in La Traviata, Garcias in Don Quichotte, and Madelon in Fortunio for Grange Park Opera; Oreste in La belle Hélène and Opinion Publique in Orphée aux Enfers for the Eva Ganizate Festival; Third Boy in Zauberflöte for Metz Opera; Sorceress in Dido and Aeneas for Westminster Opera; La Frugola in Il Tabarro at the Arcola Theatre; Angela in La Cenerentola for Opera Up-close; and Volusio in Hasse’s Cajo Fabrizio for the Handel Festival. She was also a member of the Glyndebourne Chorus for two seasons, and has sang with the ensemble Arsys-Bourgogne.
Sylvie is a dedicated song recitalist. She has performed in various festivals, including London Song Festival, Chipping Campden Festival, City of London Festival, Festival de musique de chambre d’Argonne, Festival de Bougue, Les Estivales de Megève, and La Cité de la Voix.
Future projects include Armide in La suite d’Armide by Philippe d’Orléans and Junon in Marais’ Ariane et Bacchus at the Royal Chapel in Versailles, a recital of XVII century French “airs de cour” at the Cognacq-Jay Museum (Paris), a tour in Ecuador for a recital with La Fugitive, and concerts as a soloist with La Fenice and Correspondances.
