Soprano

British Soprano Charlotte Beament is a first class honours graduate of The Guildhall School of Music and a ‘Rising Star of the Enlightenment’ for the OAE. She is a regular soloist at Glyndebourne Opera and recently made her ENO debut covering and singing for the dress rehearsal the role of Mabel (Pirates of Penzance).

Charlotte has recently finished her first season at Garsington Opera covering the title role for Annilese Miskimmon’s production of Handel’s Semele and singing the role of Armilla in Barber Opera’s production of Porpora’s L’Agrippina. Charlotte’s operatic roles and covers include Tytania (A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Glyndebourne Festival Opera), Zerlina (Don Giovanni, GTO), Berenice (Berenice, LHF), Belinda (Dido and Aeneas, Brighton Festival), Michal (Saul, GTO), Lucia (The Rape of Lucretia, GFO), Barbarina (Le Nozze di Figaro, GFO), Serpetta (La Finta Giardiniera, GFO), Une Pastourelle (L’enfant et les Sortiléges, GFO), La Priestess (Hippolyte et Aricie, GFO), Eve (Fairy Queen, GFO), Enone and Proserpine (La Descente D’Orfée Aux Enfers, GFO Jerwood) and Teresa (The Yellow Sofa, GTO).

Recent concert performances include Haydn’s Creation, Harmoniemesse and Nelson Mass, Mozart Requiem and Vesperae Solemnes de Confessore, Handel’s Semele, Israel in Egypt.  Dixit Dominus, Villa Lobos’ Bachianas Brasilieras, Mozart’s Exsultate Jubilate, Mahler’s Fourth Symphony, Strauss’ Vier Letzte Lieder and Bach’s Christmas Oratorio. Charlotte made her Cadogan Hall debut singing Handel’s Messiah and in the same month sang the title role in the Handel Festival’s performance of Berenice with David Bates and La Nuova Musica. She has performed alongside Dame Ann Murray for Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas, toured Europe with Paul McCreesh and The Gabrieli Consort and performed a solo concert tour around China with London Chamber Arts Orchestra. She has performed recitals at SMITF, Blackheath Halls and Southwark Cathedral.

Engagements in the 2017/18 season include the role of Marnie 1 in the world premiere of Nico Muhly’s Marnie, Miss Schlesen Satyagraha and Tytania cover A Midsummer Night’s Dream, all for English National Opera, Haydn’s Creation with Adam Fischer as her first appointment on the OAE Rising Stars Programme, with concerts at venues including, Queen Elizabeth Hall and Cheltenham Town Hall with Sir András Schiff, King’s Place, London, Wiltshire Music Centre and in Shanghai. Other concert performances include Haydn’s St Nicholas Mass with Jonathan Cohen for the Tetbury Festival with Arcangelo. Other concert performances include Bach B Minor Mass for Gabrieli Consort and Handel’s Semele and Israel in Egypt.  Further engagements include returns to English National Opera.
